The Nigerian Army, 32 Artillery Brigade and the Nigerian Naval Forward Operating Base, Igbokoda have rescued four Chinese nationals from kidnappers in Ogooluwayo community in Ilaje Local Government of Ondo State.
Ojo Adenegan, an Assistant Director of the Army Public Relations, disclosed this in a statement to newsmen.
Major Adelegan said the victims were kidnapped while travelling through the Ayeton Creek from Lagos to Ogooluayo community.
He said, “In the cause of a joint routine patrol on the waterways, the men of the Nigerian Army and Navy intercepted the sea pirates and their victims. It took the gallant effort of our men to rescue the four Chinese nationals, who sustained gunshot injuries.
“The rescued victims are receiving treatment in a hospital. One of the kidnappers was caught and is undergoing interrogation. His accomplices fled with gunshot injuries.
“The youths of Ogooluwa community led by one Mr. Job Omogunwa joined our men in the operation, which is an evident of good community relations between the military and members in our area of responsibility.”
Adelegan, however, urged the people, especially those in the riverine areas of the state to avail the brigade useful information on the kidnap suspects who fled with gunshot injuries.
