The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Aniocha South, Delta State, has told members not take the law into their hands after the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP denied them of campaign venue in the area.
The APC, while describing the action as provocations, called on its faithful to stay calm.
In a statement by the Director of Media and Publicity of Izu Agafiena Campaign Organisation, Nnamdi Ofonye, the party, called the attention of security agencies in the state to acts.
APC The statement reads, ‘’We want to draw the attention of the good people of Aniocha South, the security agencies and all critical stakeholders of this local government to the primitive and obsolete politics which the PDP has shamefully engaged in.
“They have deployed that manner of politics against our party in the council area.
“As announced and publicised widely, every necessary and legal means of securing a venue was taken which was at the same time secured after payment of all monies requested by the authorities. We paid N55,000 to secure Ani Nshi Primary School for the event.
“It was surprising that after securing the approval, the party was later denied access to the facility by the headmaster of the school, saying that the instruction was from above but failed to mention who the above is.
“We also believe that they are desperately trying to provoke us into taking laws into our hands which will lead to total breakdown of law and order, a situation that gives them leverage to perpetuate evil plans.
“As a party that believes in the rule of law, we will follow the normal legal means to seek redress over this unwarranted provocation. We want to call on all our teeming supporters not to be provoked.”
