There was mayhem in Bwari area of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, on Monday.
This followed an outbreak of fight between Hausas and Gbagis.
The ethnic groups have resided in the area for a long period.
Cars and shops were either burnt or vandalised.
It was gathered that fire service team that arrived to put of the fire occasioned by the burning of shops and cars was prevented from doing so until security agents stormed the scene.
DSP Anjuguri Manzah, Police Public Relations Officer, FCT Police Command, confirmed the incident to DAILY POST.
He said operatives from Bwari division have swooped on the area to restore peace.
“Our men rushed to the scene and are still on ground”, Manzah said on phone.
“The cause of the clash is not yet known but investigation has commenced.
“Maintenance of law and other is our priority; the incident has been brought under control.
“If the need arises, more deployment will be made from the command headquarters”.
