Uber wants Waymo’s self-driving cars on its ride-hailing platform

Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi said at the Code Conference today that his company is talking to Google spin-off firm Waymo to have the self-driving vehicle tech company’s cars added to its platform. That’s interesting for a number of reasons. For starters, it was just a few short months ago when Uber and Waymo settled a court battle over allegations that the ride-hailing firm stole trade secrets to build its self-driving tech. Next, Uber is still reeling from a recent incident in Phoenix, Arizona, where one of its self-driving test cars accidentally hit and killed a pedestrian. The company began trials…
