How 100 Federal Unity Colleges ranked in WAEC, NECO exams

At least four Federal Unity Schools across the country failed to record a single pass – that is five credits including Mathematics and English Languages – at the 2014/2015 senior secondary school examinations conducted the West African Examinations Council, an analysis of multiple examinations obtained by PREMIUM TIMES shows.
The performance evaluation for 100 unity schools covered examinations conducted by WAEC, National Examination Council (NECO), Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), National Business Certificate (NBC), National Technical Examination (NTC) and National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB).
The analysis, obtained from the federal ministry of education, shows that the overall best performing unity schools in the 2014/2015 BECE/NECO examinations were Federal Government Academy, Suleja, Niger State; Federal Science and Technical College, Awka, Anambra State; and Federal Government College, Nise, Anambra State.
The three schools took the first, second and third positions respectively, based on percentile number of students who made requisite number of credits.
For the 2014/2015 SSCE/NECO examinations include; the first position was Federal Government College, Nise, Anambra State, with 99.57 per cent; Second position was Federal Government Girl’s College, Gwandu, Kebbi State, with 99.14 per cent; and third position went to Federal Government College, Robuchi, FCT, Abuja, with 98.72 per cent.
For the 2014/2015 NBC/NTC/NABTEB the grading had Federal Science and Technical College, Yaba, Lagos State with 116 candidates certified; followed by Federal Science and Technical College, Ijebu Mushin, Ogun State with 93 candidates certified; and Federal Science and Technical College, Awka Anambra State with 74 candidates certified.
The overall best schools for the 2014/2015 WASSCE/WAEC examinations were Federal Government Girls’ College, Benin, Edo State; Federal Government Girls’ College, Kazaure, Jigawa State; and Federal Government College, Robuchi, FCT, Abuja.
For the WAEC exams, the 104 Federal Unity Colleges were classified into percentages of number of students who scored credit and above in English and Mathematics.

Out of these groups, 10 Colleges recorded 99.14 to 90.7 per cent, seven recorded 87.39 to 82.93 per cent, and another seven recorded 79.88 to 71.05 per cent.
The Federal Government College, Buni-Yadi, Federal Government Girls’ College, Potiskum, Federal Science and Technical College, Michika, and Federal Science and Technical College, Lassa, had no results because of earlier evacuation of schools in Yobe, Borno and Adamawa states in 2014 by the Federal Government due to the Boko Haram crisis.
