UNODC and IOM launch new initiative to counter migrant smuggling

UNODC and IOM launch new initiative to counter migrant smuggling. Photo: European Union Two United Nations agencies are joining forces to combat migrant smuggling. Today at the UN in Vienna, IOM and UNODC organized an event centring on a Joint Platform on Countering Migrant Smuggling. Opening the event, UNODC Executive Director Yury Fedotov said: "We must work together to deny criminals the means and opportunity, to protect the lives and safety of people, and end the impunity of smugglers."
