Departing Arsenal forward, Alexis Sanchez, was on Monday met by Sir Alex Ferguson at Old Trafford ahead of his move to Manchester United.
The Chilean international was completing the second part of his medical ahead of his transfer from the Emirate Stadium and the deal could be announced in the next 24 hours if he is granted a work permit.
Sanchez, 29, was in Manchester on Sunday to begin his medical and photos leaked of Sanchez at Old Trafford wearing the iconic number 7
The magnitude of Sanchez’s move was summed up by legendary Ferguson’s decision to greet the Arsenal star today.
Ferguson, arriving in a separate car, made his way over to the van that Sanchez was arriving in from the Lowry Hotel and engaged in conversation with the Chilean.
Sanchez’s move to United was dependent on Henrikh Mkhitaryan agreeing to join Arsenal and the Armenian was in London this weekend to finalise the formalities of his transfer to the Emirates.
Should Sanchez’s deal be completed in the next 24 hours he could train with his new team-mates for the first time on Wednesday.
