Former bouncy castle salesman dubbed new 'Jihadi John,' added to State Department terrorism list

A former British bouncy castle salesman dubbed the new “Jihadi John” has earned himself a place on the U.S. State Department’s terrorism list.
Siddhartha Dhar, who goes by Abu Rumaysah, fled his East London home for Syria in 2014 to join ISIS, Yahoo News reported. Dhar fled the UK with his family while free on bail for his alleged involvement in Al-Muhajiroun, a former terror group that's now defunct.
Dhar tweeted pics of him posing with an AK-47 and his infant son. The Telegraph reported Dhar was Hindu but converted to Islam in order to marry his wife. Neighbors told the news outlet he may have been radicalized by his wife.
Dhar was believed to be the man who was in a Jan. 2016 ISIS video showing the execution of ISIS prisoners, Yahoo News reported.
A State Department spokesperson told Yahoo News anyone on the list “poses a significant risk of committing acts of terrorism that threaten the security of U.S. nationals or the national security, foreign policy, or economy of the United States.”
The spokesperson told the news outlet Dhar was “considered to have replaced ISIS executioner Mohammed Emwazi, also known as ‘Jihadi John.’”
Emwazi, the original “Jihadi John” was confirmed dead by an ISIS propaganda magazine in Jan. 2016.
A masked, black-clad militant, who has been identified by the Washington Post newspaper as a Briton named Mohammed Emwazi, brandishes a knife in this still image from a 2014 video obtained from SITE Intel Group February 26, 2015. Investigators believe that the masked killer known as "Jihadi John", who fronted Islamic State beheading videos, is Emwazi, two U.S. government sources said on Thursday. The British government and police refused to confirm or deny his identity, which was first revealed by the Washington Post, saying it was an ongoing security investigation. Emwazi, a native of Kuwait, appeared in a string of ISIS beheading videos including ones that depicted the beheadings of U.S. journalists Steven Sotloff and James Foley, U.S. aid worker Peter Kassig, British aid workers David Haines and Alan Henning, and Japanese journalist Kenji Goto.

Kim Jong Un's slush fund running out of fuel after numerous missile, nuclear tests, report says

Kim Jong Un's trigger-happy antics have nearly depleted a critical slush fund the North Korean despot uses to run his isolated country -- and the Hermit Kingdom's participation in the upcoming Winter Olympics is merely a scheme to refill his coffers, according to a report.
Two Chinese sources with ties to top North Korean government officials told Radio Free Asia that Kim has nearly exhausted his slush fund due to missile and nuclear weapon and tests, as well as vanity projects, such as the much-publicized Masikryong Ski Resort.
“Due to Kim Jong Un’s extravagant spending, the slush fund from his father, Kim Jong Il, is running out,” one of the sources told the news agency. “It won’t be easy to control North Korea’s high-level executives, who are [cunning] like raccoons.”
The source said he is “well-acquainted” with Office No. 39, a shadowy organization under the ruling North Korean Workers’ Party that generates up to a billion dollars annually for Kim and his cronies through illicit activities, including counterfeiting and drug production.

Around 100,000 North Koreans working abroad also send back around $500 million in earnings annually, Radio Free Asia reported, citing a U.N. estimate.
“I heard them worrying about insufficient funds in Office No. 39 a number of times,” the source added, noting that four of the six nuclear tests carried out by North Korea have been done under Kim’s watch. The dictator, infamously dubbed “rocket man” by President Trump, has also overseen 20 missile tests, Radio Free Asia reported.
“We can speculate that he spent a lot of money from the number of missile [and nuclear weapons] tests he carried out,” the source said. “Most of the funding for nuclear weapon and missile development is coming from Kim Jong Un’s slush fund.”
The other source told Radio Free Asia that North Korea’s participation in the Winter Olympics, scheduled to be held in Pyeongchang, South Korea, is a way to solicit charity while appearing to mend relations.

“North Korea’s warm gestures toward South Korea have underlying intentions: to use the Pyongchang Winter Olympics that will be held there from Feb. 9 as a breakthrough for their financial difficulties,” the source said.
But the source warned that “it won’t be easy for the South to help the Kim Jong Un regime [these days] because of international sanctions.”
The sanctions, combined with a poor harvest, have left the country’s military scrambling for food rations, as soldiers are being given months off at a time to scrounge around fields to find things to eat, according to a December report.
North Korean officials also have been reported to be ransacking the homes of drought-stricken farmers to collect every last grain of food inside.

U.S official backs weak dollar amid fears of trade war

United States Treasury Secretary, Steven Mnuchin welcomed a weaker dollar, sending the greenback reeling and underlining concerns that U.S. President Donald Trump is stepping up his attack on China and other big trading partners.
Mnuchin, who made the remark, said it was part of Trump’s America First agenda.
He said it was seen by markets as a departure from traditional U.S. currency policy, at the World Economic Forum in Davos, where other world leaders have made swipes at what they see as U.S. protectionism.
Tough U.S. talk on trade, on the eve of Trump’s arrival at the Swiss ski resort on Thursday, contrasted sharply with a chorus of government leaders, from India and Brazil to Germany and Canada, who urged cooperation and criticized protectionism.
“Obviously a weaker dollar is good for us as it relates to trade and opportunities,” Mnuchin said at news briefing.
Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross later told CNBC that his colleague was “not advocating for a weaker dollar”, but he also struck a combative tone.
Asked if he was concerned about sparking a trade war, Ross said: ”Trade war has been in place for quite a little while, the difference is the U.S. troops are now coming to the ramparts.”
Pressed about Mnuchin’s remarks, White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders said at a daily briefing in Washington: “We believe in a free-floating currency. The president has always believed in that.”
“We have … a very stable dollar, in large part due to how well the U.S. economy is doing right now,” she added.
The annual Davos gathering of world leaders, chief executives and non-governmental agencies has long embraced globalisation, free trade and liberal values.
Trump, the first sitting U.S. president to attend the forum since Bill Clinton in 2000, has questioned that world view.
He has threatened to withdraw from the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), disavowed the global climate change accord and criticized institutions such as the United Nations and NATO.
With Trump expected to address the summit on Friday, world leaders here have raised concerns about a return to greater economic protectionism.
Italian Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni, asked what his message to Trump was, offered a defense of multilateral cooperation and warned against undermining that.
Germany’s Angela Merkel, in an address to the forum, evoked the two World Wars and questioned whether the world had learned from them.
French President Emmanuel Macron opened his well-attended speech by joking that the conference “obviously and fortunately didn’t invite anyone skeptical” about global warming.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Canada’s Justin Trudeau and Brazilian President Michel Temer have also embraced the idea of globalisation and cooperation.
Mnuchin defended Trump’s agenda.
“This is about an America First agenda. But America First does mean working with the rest of the world,” Mnuchin said.
“It just means that President Trump is looking out for American workers and American interests no different than he expects other leaders would look out for their own.”
Ross said U.S. trade actions were provoked by “inappropriate behavior on the part of our trading counterparties”. (Reuters/NAN)

Sex doll: Clerics, others speak on emergence in Abuja

Abuja residents on Thursday expressed divergent views, including outright condemnation of the emergence of sex dolls in the metropolis, the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports.
Some of the residents who spoke to NAN, however, argued that the sex dolls came at the right time to curb the rate of promiscuity and infidelity among married couples.
They also claimed that it would stem the spread of sexually transmitted infections now on the increase.
However, others have described the lifeless human sized, mostly feminine dolls, as satanic invention fashioned to pollute the minds of the younger generation and a bad development.
NAN reports that the doll is a type of sex toy built with silicon jell materials in the size and shape of a sexual partner, fashioned to aid in masturbation.
The sex doll usually consists of an entire body with human face, or just a head, pelvis or other partial body parts with the accessories like vagina, anus and mouth, for sexual stimulation.
The parts sometimes vibrate and could be removed or interchanged.
Some of the first sex dolls were invented by Dutch sailors in the 17th century who were isolated at sea during long voyages.
Then the dolls were made of sewn cloth or old clothes and were a direct predecessor to today’s sex dolls.
Similarly, an urban legend holds that during the World War II, Adolf Hitler charged one of his commanders to design sex dolls for German soldiers, to prevent them from slaking their lust with non-Aryan women.
Later development saw Silicone dolls made from tin-cure silicone with platinum technology that enhanced better longevity, less prone to tears and compression marks.
Mr Emmanuel Friday, a furniture maker, said sex doll was a well thought out idea considering the various sexually transmitted infections and unwanted pregnancies that had become common among sexually active persons.
“If I have a sex doll and have sex with her, I will not be afraid of contracting HIV or making the doll pregnant; I will enjoy myself without thinking about those negative consequences.
“It will also make some ladies who are arrogant and selfish to begin to humble themselves before their men because they now have a competition.
“For me, I think the sex doll is a good idea in this age of high rate of sexual immorality,’’ Friday said.
Mr Timothy Kuje, a civil servant, said that sex dolls could contribute to the reduction of rape in the society.
He stressed that instead of taking advantage of innocent little girls and older women in the society, it would be better to have one of those dolls to “cool the sexual pressure.’’
Kuje, however, said “with sex doll it will be bye-bye to all those unfaithful girls that can even kill their men out of jealousy.
“We have heard of how women, created by God, are maltreating and killing their husbands; but these dolls cannot do that; instead, they are always there for you.
“The doll will not be unfaithful, nag and hate your family members like real women do. Once bought, it will not demand money for anything.
“This will enable you to save more money to accomplish some projects to better your life and that of your siblings,’’ Kuje said.
Meanwhile, Mr Ikenna Amanze, a journalist, said introduction of female sex dolls was amounted to a contention against the omnipotence of God.
“Sex doll is pure nonsense; they are made of materials and subject to deterioration and breakage.
“I suspect that some of the dolls may be infused with a demonic substance that may cause lot of damages and harm to subscribers than it intends to solve.
“Instead of buying sex doll, I can use the money to build a house in my village or carry out other better projects to help me and my family,’’ Amanze stressed.
Mrs Pepertua Okonkwo, a house wife, alleged that female sex dolls were created for sexual perverts by evil people that were against God’s plan for humanity.
“Having sex with a lifeless object such as a sex doll reduces the man to the level of that object, the act is degrading and reduces one’s integrity.
“Dolls are lifeless, thereby having sexual act with dolls such as “masturbation’’ is against the teachings of God.
“Sex dolls have the tendency of polluting the minds of the younger generation to make them view sexual act different from God’s initial plans for man.
Mrs Ijeoma Ndubuisi, a young mother of one and civil servant, said a man that would go for sex with a doll was less than a man.
Ndubuisi added that such a man lacked courage to win the heart of a lady or a woman.
“Sex has become so liberal to the point that most ladies will accept peanuts to offer sex to any man that can afford to pay.
“I hear that the price of a single sex doll is about N800,000. Such amount of money can get any man many women to have sex with,’’ Ndubuisi said.
Miss Matilda Idoko, an undergraduate, said that sexual engagement with sex dolls could only create unhealthy addiction and false feelings of sexual pleasure.
According to her, such a man will always want to go back to the doll to engage in sexual intercourse.
“It can lead to situation where the man may not want to have anything to do with a real woman. The person will not see natural sex as something beautiful.
“God’s plan for man and woman is to enjoy sex to the fullest, but these sex dolls are created to cause a diversion of God’s plan for us.
“With sex dolls, humanity is doomed, because there will be no procreation which is the original plan of God for us,’’ Idoko said.
However, from the religious angle, Mr Felix Ajide, the Coordinator of NAN Christian Fellowship, said “sex doll is demonic and evil”.
“It is not in line with what God has created. The moment we are trying to replace what God has created then it is a sin.
“The Bible says if we cannot exercise self control then we should marry, but not to sex doll, machine or animal. In fact, the Bible says we should stone such people to death.
“This has contributed to the pollution of the minds of many and lead to high rate of rape, kidnapping and all sorts of activities that are not in line with God’s plan for mankind.
“Society should have a rethink and go back to God. Humans should have self control and avoid being taken away by the false passion for sex dolls that do not glorify God,’’ Ajide said.
Similarly, Malam Dalhatu Ahmed, the Chief Imam of NAN Mosque said “sex doll is haram.’’
According to him, it is demonic and contributes to the high rise of lesbianism, gay and other forms of sexual perversion in the society.
“Almihgty Allah is against all forms of sexual perversions. Sex dolls should not be encouraged because the Creator is against it.

“Allah’s plan for mankind is for man and woman He created to multiply and dominate the earth. Anything outside this, is a sin against Allah,’’ Ahmed said.

Those blaming actress Dorcas over rape case are animals – Adekunle Gold

Nigerian Singer, Adekunle Gold, has reacted to the report on the case between actress Dorcas Shola Fapson and a Taxify driver, Henry Nnaemeka who allegedly abducted and attempted to rape her.
Adekunle Gold wondered why people were blaming the actress despite the details she provided on the incident.
This did not go down well with some Nigerians as they have blamed the actress for the incident.
The blame came after the driver released his own version of the story, saying Dorcas refused to pay him in cash during the trip.
However, Adekunle Gold in his reaction on his Twitter page wrote: “When someone narrates their ordeal these days, they get bashed and judged and you wonder why people don’t speak up when they are in trouble?

” I am reading comments on a blog; people abusing Dorcas for making the story up, other animals saying she’s dressed indecently .Smh”

Tinubu’s death: Sports Minister, Dalung reacts

Solomon Dalung, Minister of Youths and Sports, has expressed shock over the death of the first Chairman of the Lagos State Sports Commission, Deji Tinubu.
Until his death, Deji Tinubu was the Special Adviser on Commerce, Industry and Cooperativesto the Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode.
Reacting to the death, the Minister described the death of the late board member of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, as too shocking and sudden to be true.
The Minister described the late Tinubu as a progressive Nigerian who realized and pursued the dream of a greater and better Nigeria through sports development.
According to Dalung, “We have interacted so well over the last couple of months since the Lagos state government through him then as the Chairman of Lagos State Sports Commission and Special Adviser to his Excellency on Sports, muted the idea of renovating the National Stadium in Lagos.
“His level of intelligence and calmness in the face of challenges was excellent. Working closely with him over the last one year on the proposed Lagos National Stadium project, reinforced my belief that with the help of bright young Nigerians who are in abundant supply home and abroad, the country would be great again.
“He was a complete gentleman who was humble to a fault. He was one of those few journalists who blazed the trail in their chosen careers and metamorphosed into sports administration when he became the Chairman of the Lagos State Football Association and was elected as an Executive Board member of the Nigeria Football Federation.”

Fani Kayode goes spiritual on FG’s alleged defence of ‘killer’ herdsmen

Femi Fani-Kayode, former Minister of Aviation, on Friday reacted to Federal Government’s defense of Fulani herdsmen’s attacks in Nigeria.
The Minister of Defence had yesterday said the implementation of Anti-Open Grazing bill in some states was the cause of the killings by Fulani herdsmen in the country.
But in his reaction, the former Minister described the defence as “provocative and insulting.”
The Peoples Democratic Party’s Chieftain said this in a series of tweet via his social media handle.
The tweet reads, “The attempt to justify the genocidal barbarity of the Fulani terrorists by the Min. of Defence is provocative and insulting.
“It is in the same way that Pres. Buhari attempted to justify and defend Boko Haram in 2014 by saying “an attack on Boko Haram is an attack on the north”.
“Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: but they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint”- ISAIAH 40: 30, 31.”

Biafra: Court refuses to order Buratai to produce Nnamdi Kanu

A Federal High Court in Abuja, on Friday, turned down request by the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, to order the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, to produce their leader, Nnamdi Kanu.
In a ruling that was delivered by Justice Binta Nyako, the court dismissed an application that was filed by a team of lawyers representing the IPOB leader, which prayed the court to compel Buratai to produce their client, either dead or alive.
The IPOB lawyers, led by Ifeanyi Ejiofor, told the court that they have not seen or heard from their client since September 14, 2017, when the Nigerian Army invaded his house, “on a murderous raid, where life and mortar bullets were fired on unarmed and defenceless populace, leaving 28 persons dead and abducting many.”
Pursuant to section 40 of the Federal High Court Act, F12, LFN 2005 and section 6(6) (1) (4) of the 1999 constitution, as amended, Kanu’s lawyers applied for, “an order of Habeas Corpus ad subjiciendum, commanding the Respondent (Buratai), to produce the Applicant in Court.”
In a counter-affidavit filed in opposition to the suit, Buratai told the court that Kanu was never in custody of the Nigerian Army.
The army chief maintained that contrary to claims in the suit, soldiers who were deployed to the South-East for ‘Operation Python Dance II, did not have any contact whatsoever with Kanu on September 12 or 14, or anytime thereafter as alleged.
The Chief of Army Staff told the court that the Nigerian Army did not at any time arrest or took Kanu into custody within the period the military operation lasted, even as he denied allegation that soldiers invaded the IPOB leader’s house in Afara-Ukwu Ibeku, Umuahia, Abia State.
A colonel attached to the Chief of Army Staff’s office in the Army Headquarters, Abuja, Col. A.A Yusuf, who deposed to the counter-affidavit on behalf of Buratai, said the alleged invasion of Kanu’s house was totally false.
In her ruling, Justice Nyako held that Ejiofor failed to convince the court that Kanu was seen with soldiers at any time.
She pointed out that, “the doctrine of last seen,” which the applicant relied upon, even though applicable in murder cases, has no statutory backing.
The Judge noted that Kanu was listed in the suit as the main applicant.
According to the judge, she was surprised that someone that was said to be missing was the one seeking reliefs from the court, insisting that the lawyers ought to have rather commenced the action “in the name of the applicant.”
Nyako said affidavits Ejiofor presented before the court contained criminal allegations against the Nigerian Army that must be proved beyond reasonable doubt.
“Has the applicant placed enough evidence to show that the respondent was the last to see the applicant? Was there any evidence that he was last seen with even one soldier?
“The onus of proof will not shift from the applicant to the respondent except the applicant is able to prove that he was last seen by the respondent. This they have failed to do.
“This application fails and it is hereby dismissed. Be ready for your case,” the Judge held.
When Ejiofor demanded to know from the court what the next line of action would be in respect of Kanu’s pending trial, since his whereabouts has remained unknown.
Justice Nyako explained, “As far as I am concerned, the applicant is on bail. Was he not released on bail based on an undertaking by sureties?
“The sureties guaranteed to produce the applicant in court for his trial, so three of them should produce him.
“They made an undertaking and deposed to the fact that they will produce him to stand trial.
“If there is any reason they cannot produce him, they should tell me on that date.”

Police asks Kwankwaso to postpone Kano rally, gives reasons

The Kano State Police Command on Friday advised former Governor of the State, Rabiu Kwankwaso to postpone his planned rally in the state.
Addressing journalists at the Bompai police headquarters in Kano, the State Police Commissioner, Rabiu Yusuf, warned that failure to comply with the order might attract,“stiffer implication”.
Kwankwaso and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) under the leadership of Abdullahi Ganduje, governor of the state, are set to hold parallel political rallies on January 30.
But the Commissioner said intelligence information has it that the rally by the Kwankwaso group could be hijacked by “miscreants”.
Yusuf urged the former governor to consider postponing his trip, “until the tension generated is down.”
He said, ”There is apprehension amongst the general public and the tendencies to hijack the visit by some disgruntled politicians or miscreants cannot be wished away .”Therefore any action or inaction by any person or group of persons that may jeopardize the relative peace in the state is currently enjoying must be averted.
”But is Kwankwaso insisted of coming the law would take it natural cause because we cannot file down our arms and allow peace to be truncated by any person or group of persons
”On this premise, it is the candid advice of the command that such a visit to the state should be shelved by Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso until the tension generated by the planned visit is doused and security threat neutralized “.
