New York Resident Writes Gbajabiamila, Fayemi, El-Rufai Over Sowore’s Detention

A resident of New York, United States of America, Ademola Bello, has called on Speaker of House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, Ekiti State governor, Kayode Fayemi, and Kaduna State governor, Nasir el-Rufai, to intervene in the continued detention of pro-democracy activist and Publisher of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore.

Justice Taiwo Taiwo of the Federal High Court, Abuja, had on Tuesday ordered the Department of State Services to release Sowore on bail but three days after that ruling, the agency was yet to comply.

Addressing a letter to Gbajabiamila and the others on Friday over the matter, Bello said that the continued detention of Sowore had tarnished Nigeria’s reputation in the international community.

He said, “It is unfortunate that the President Muhammadu Buhari administration has a penchant for violating court orders.

“The bizarre charges against Omoyele Sowore and the continued harassment and detention of journalists doing their lawful jobs in Nigeria has tarnished Nigeria’s reputation in the international community.

“Your (Gbajabiamila, Fayemi, el-Rufai) silence while the rights of Omoyele Sowore and other unlawfully detained journalists and activists are being violated is like fiddling while Rome burns.

“By the way, the three of you did not acknowledge receiving the open letter email Columbia University, an Ivy League school, sent you last week concerning Omoyele Sowore’s continued detention. It is shameful.”

Bello also called for all the “bogus” charges levelled against Sowore to be immediately dropped.

Husband Kills Wife In Ondo Over Disagreement

A 50-year-old man, Daniyan Ojo, has killed his wife, Dorcas, in Akure, Ondo State, by setting her ablaze, SaharaReportershas learnt.

It was learnt that the husband, who is a welder, had been having issues with his wife in recent times before the sad incident.

A neighbour to the victim, Mrs Kehinde Ajayi, who confirmed the incident on Friday to our correspondent, said they were all shocked over the incident.

She said, “We were asleep at night when we heard the woman calling for help.

“Initially, we could not come out from our apartments because we feared that the noise was from armed robbers who may have invaded the area.

“But immediately we saw fire coming of their apartment, we rush out to rescue Dorcas but she had already been burnt by the fire.

“She was later transferred to the Federal Medical Centre, Owo, where she eventually died.

“Later, we got to know that she and her husband had been quarrelling over documents relating to the sale of a land.

“It was this disagreement that made the husband set his wife ablaze.”

According to Bose Richard, a younger sister to the deceased, the victim had been the one taking care of the family for a long time.

“My elder sister was the person taking care of him (husband) and the five children before he eventually killed her.

“This would be the third time he would be pouring petrol on his wife (my sister) with the aim of killing her and now he has finally killed her.

“This same woman bought two vehicles for him but he never appreciated it, instead he sold them.”

Confirming the incident, spokesperson for the police in Ondo, Femi Joseph, said that they had arrested the man with a view to investigating the case.

“Although, the man in question has denied his involvement in the incident, we do believe that he knows more than what he is telling us.

“For instance, the daughter told us that their father brought a keg of petrol and asked them to vacate the room.

“But their mother did not leave and around 11:00pm of that day, they noticed the outbreak of fire in the room where she slept.

“Before they knew what was happening, the woman had been burnt beyond recognition.

“We are currently investigating the case and we shall get to the root of it all.”

Real Reason I Stopped Being Fatoyinbo’s Spiritual Father –Ilorin pastor

Presiding Pastor of Champions’ Church, Ilorin, Kwara State, Emmanuel Oset, has revealed in an interview with Arise TVthe real reason he had to stop being the spiritual father of founder of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly, Biodun Fatoyinbo.

According to Oset, he had tried all he could to make Fatoyinbo turn a new leaf but he couldn’t succeed, hence he had to severe his relationship with him.

Oset said, “Our Lord Jesus Christ knew that Judas had become a thief but it wasn’t Jesus who said so, it was John who said so. Not because Jesus was weak, but because Jesus was hoping that this man would change.

“You always find in the scripture, the purpose of God is redemptive. Before God comes with judgment in any case, you will see that He would have tried to get through to the person. It is when His love has been rebuffed and rebuffed again that He comes with judgment. That is God’s procedure.

“God does not rule by force, he rules by love.

“People have spoken. People spoke in 2013, but you can only help somebody who wants to be helped. If somebody doesn’t want to be helped, even God will not be able to help him, His hands will be tied in that regard.

“When in August 2013, news broke out online concerning him and his ministry, as somebody he was close to as an elder, I thought it was my responsibility to get across to him.

“His pastor in Ilorin, I told him, ‘Get through to your boss and I want to share a thing or two with him’.

The Pulpit and the People, #pulpitNpeople - Rev. Oset & Pst. Busola

“Eventually he succeeded, and he called me from Abuja. And I told him, ‘This news is all over the place and I want to hear from you and also give you some counsel if need be.’ And he said he would get in touch.

“I said, ‘Okay, I’m on my way to the US. While I’m there if I want to get through to you, how do I do it?’ I thought he would just say, ‘Sir, you can get through to me using my email.’ Then he said his fear that time was that he was being bugged.

“I am not saying this to impress anybody. I wasn’t part of those already making comments on the issue. I just wanted to see how I could be useful in terms of helping him, but he didn’t show up.

“I waited from August 2013 to April 2014. When he didn’t show up, and he was coming to town, having meetings, I was seeing his billboards in town. Well, my wife and I said to ourselves we’ve done our bit.

“It was then I wrote him a letter and I said, ‘Consider that we no longer have anything to do with you and your ministry.’ I didn’t post it; it was hand-delivered by his own pastor.”

Oset said he knew Fatoyinbo got his letter but the letter had yet to be replied to years after.

According to him, the letter ended their relationship.

Fatoyinbo is currently battling to erase his name from allegations of rape against him by Busola, wife of musician Timi Dakolo.

Busola had accused Fatoyinbo of raping her on September 23 and 26, 2002 – a claim the COZA pastor vehemently denies.

Bizarre Confession: Our Target Was To Kill 20 People, Says Benue Kidnap Kingpin

Leader of a kidnap gang in Benue State, Iorwuese Kpila, 30, has said that he and his colleagues were given a target by one ‘queen spirit’ to kill 20 people and take the victims’ blood for ritual purposes.

Iorwuese made the confession on Friday while being paraded at the Benue State Police Command headquarters in Makurdi, the capital, alongside six members of his gang and five others arrested for child trafficking, armed robbery and other crimes.

The 30-year-old said that he wanted to be powerful and influential in his community even beyond Benue State that was why he engaged in criminal activities.

He said, “I was born in 1989 and I’m married with four children and four wives but so far, only one wife is staying with me and she is not aware that I’m into this.

“My father was a native doctor and he worked with so many spirits. When we kidnap people, we kill them and dispossess them of their valuables.

“We give them concoction that make them carry out whatever task we ask them before killing them.

“So far, we have kidnapped 16 persons, robbed them of their vehicles, motorcycles and other belongings, killed the victims, buried the corpses and planted cassava on the graves.

“The ‘queen spirit’ directed us to do so and after meeting the target of 20, we would acquire whatever we want in life.

“It is the ‘queen spirit’ that consumed the blood of our victims.”
